MegaStation is an automated computer controlled vertical carousel which can operate both as a central inventory store or as an on-line materials handling system, providing accurate, real-time data from the shop floor to high level planning systems. The MegaStation is fast becoming an industry standard for those companies looking to progress forwards from the more traditional working procedures associated with manual handling. The key benefits to users from a variety of industries are quite similar, the most significant ones being:

Floor space savings: The vertical carousel concept makes maximum use of ceiling heights. The MegaStation can be built to extreme heights giving very high floor storage capacity to floor space ratios. This can mean MegaStation will take as little as 20% of the floor space required by previous systems

Increased picking speeds: MegaStation presents stock to the operator rather than the other way around. The operator can be light guided to the correct shelf level, bin location and depth within the selected bin. Software will tell the operator how many items to pick. MegaStation will also sort stock into an optimum picking sequence minimizing machine travel time. Anticipated improvements in picking speeds are four-fold.

Health and Safety: OSHA guidelines on manual handling are comprehensive and clearly make employers responsible for introducing automation where possible to avoid the risks associated with manual handling. Stock security: Stock within MegaStation is kept cleaner and free from dust as it is housed in a self contained unit which is lockable also the reducing the risk of stock losses.
